The kindergarten program at Bracken Elementary uses state standards and common core curriculum in preparing your child for success in Kindergarten. You may look up the standards by going to http://www.corestandards.org/assets/CCSSI_ELA%20Standards.pdf This website will break down the different areas for you to see.
Remember to check out all the resource links on the Bracken Webpage http://schools.ccsd.net/bracken/resources.htm
There are lots of links to great learning websites. First grade through fifth grade uses these sites as part of their nightly homework.
Please remember to sit and work with your child. Watch your child when on the internet. Make sure it is a safe site to visit.
Here is an extensive list of websites you may go to for extra practice:

Seussville
offers a variety of online games for Kindergarten. Bright cheery graphics right
out of the pages of your favorite Dr. Seuss book bring this site to life.
Seussville gives young students the chance to practice skills online while
providing familiar images and text. This site includes click and play games,
story maker, quote maker, print activities, coloring pages
and a host of information for teachers. I highly recommend this site for use in
the classroom or as a resource for parents.
Funschool
offers a host of games, but you will need to look through the games to find
those suited for your kindergarten class. Several games listed as preschool
games are suitable for early kindergarten and focus on identifying letters and
numbers, counting and coloring.
Kindersite
hosts a treasure of interactive online games for kindergarten children. Each
listing includes the skills taught and the suggested age for the activity.
Includes number and letter recognition, matching, coloring activities, making
music and dressing games. This collection will keep your kids busy for
weeks.
Arthur Games
on PBS Kids provides a movie maker to challenge young artists, grocery games for
identifying groups of foods, cafeteria game for choosing healthy foods and a
gardening game to learn about going green. These may require some assistance,
but are a great way to review lessons. Shown on a large screen, children can
play these as whole class activities to reinforce class concepts.
Learning Planet
provides a small selection of games for preschool and kindergarten. It includes
a clock game where students place the numbers in the correct order on the clock
face. This a great activity when introducing time and clocks to young children.
Also included are counting, letter and number recognition and matching games.
Graphics are excellent and the site is easy to use.
